Zweig Group M&A: Ahead, Dallas North

Baton Rouge-based GraceHebert Architects adds DFW location, and talent, through merger with Curtis Group Architects

The recent merger of GraceHebert Architects and Curtis Group Architects will broaden the national footprint of the combined firm, and plant a well-rounded, experienced team in the heart of one of the most dynamic markets in the nation – Dallas.

The merged companies, with over 50 employees, will operate as Grace Hebert Curtis Architects. In addition to north Dallas, the firm will have offices in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

Zweig Group, a full-service AEC management advisory firm, represented GraceHebert in this most recent acquisition, and also represented it in a prior deal. The director of Mergers and Acquisitions at Zweig Group said GraceHebert is not just joining forces with a talented staff at Curtis Group, but is stepping into a world of opportunity by entering a region that’s at the top of the economic development food chain.

“This is an exciting time for design firms within the Dallas-Fort Worth market. Our sources show that DFW holds up as the third most attractive market for industrial real estate development and investors listed DFW as the second most desirable real estate investment market for the third year in a row. With job gains accelerating and the construction pipeline remaining strong, we can expect continued growth within the DFW market.”

The merger is the result of a successful multi-year joint venture between the two firms on a variety of large-scale healthcare projects. Curtis Group’s long-standing reputation in healthcare is expected to mesh well with GraceHebert’s expertise in education, justice, performing arts, and commercial design.

Zweig Group’s Managing Principal and CFO, Jamie Claire Kiser, who was the project manager on the deal, said the merger’s upside is obvious.

“The union of GraceHebert and Curtis Group creates a powerhouse in healthcare design,” she said.
