Zweig Group announces release of 2019 Fee & Billing Survey of AEC Firms

Zweig Group’s annual publication of AEC industry fees, billing rates, chargeability/utilization rates, project contracts, and billing practices, has been released. The data contained in this publication was gathered using an online survey and collected from a diverse sample of industry firms. The 2019 Fee & Billing Survey of AEC Firms allows firms to benchmark their billing rates and project fees by analyzing a variety of factors including employee chargeability, different market sectors, fee breakdown at each project milestone, change orders, and much more. These survey finding provide firms insights they need to keep bids competitive while balancing their fixed wage-related costs with profitability. This year, over 300 job titles and 15 market sectors were reviewed. Overall trends show an increase in rates, with 99 percent of all respondents reporting fee increases last year by an average of 10 percent. The gap between actual and projected chargeability for staff has steadily decreased from 6.3 percent in 2015, to 3 percent this year.
